The sheriff was reacting to Frey’s profanity-laced remarks demanding ICE leave Minneapolis, comments that stunned many Americans watching their elected officials attack federal agents.
Judd did not hold back.
“Shame on you,” he added. “That’s lack of professionalism.”
Judd also reviewed video footage of the incident and described what unfolded from a law enforcement perspective.
“Law enforcement officers, federal law enforcement officers, ICE agents were trying to take the occupant of the car out of the vehicle,” Judd explained.
What happened next, he said, changed everything.
“During this encounter, the vehicle backed up and then drove directly at the ICE agent,” Judd said. “That is a deadly weapon, a two ton deadly weapon.”
The Department of Homeland Security later classified the incident as an act of domestic terrorism, stating the vehicle was intentionally used as a weapon against federal officers.
Judd made clear there should be no confusion about the outcome.
“So what did the occupant expect?” Judd asked. “They should have expected to be shot when you commit a deadly assault on a law enforcement officer.”
Rather than backing federal agents, Frey and Walz immediately condemned ICE and questioned the justification for the shooting. Both men demanded federal agents leave Minnesota altogether.
Walz went even further, mobilizing the National Guard as riots and protests erupted across Minneapolis.
Critics pointed out the hypocrisy instantly.
This is the same governor who allowed Minneapolis to burn during the George Floyd riots in 2020. Back then, Walz hesitated while businesses were destroyed and police officers were overwhelmed.
Now, suddenly, he found urgency when rioters turned their anger toward federal law enforcement.
Judd’s comments carried even more weight given the current political climate.
The nation is still reeling from the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, when a left wing extremist murdered him during a speech at Utah Valley University.
Since that killing, President Trump has taken a far more aggressive stance against political violence from the radical Left. Minneapolis has become a flashpoint in that battle.
President Trump deployed more than 2,000 federal agents to Minneapolis following the exposure of a massive welfare fraud scheme involving Minnesota’s Somali community.
Investigators revealed an estimated $3.8 billion in taxpayer money was siphoned through fake daycare centers and fraudulent social services claims.
House Republicans later held hearings showing the scandal exploded under Walz’s leadership.
The damage proved so severe that Walz recently announced he will not seek reelection, ending what was left of his political future after his failed vice presidential run with Kamala Harris.
Judd warned Minnesota officials that their rhetoric and sanctuary city policies are fueling chaos.
“Let’s send out the message loud and clear, and it should start with the mayor, the police chief, the local sheriff and the governor of Minnesota cooperate with law enforcement officers,” Judd said.
He offered a final warning.
“Don’t resist them. Don’t violently resist them,” Judd stated. “If you do violently resist them, if you do felonious assaults with two ton weapons expect to be shot.”
Frey has banned city property from being used for immigration enforcement and proudly labels Minneapolis a sanctuary city. Critics argue those policies created the perfect environment for fraud, lawlessness, and now violent unrest.
Sheriff Judd represents a model of firm, unapologetic law enforcement. He has been sheriff since 2004, was recently sworn in for his sixth term, and began his career as a dispatcher in 1972.
Polk County voters continue to reelect him because they trust his leadership and clarity.
Minneapolis voters, by contrast, elected leaders who curse federal agents, excuse violence, and protect criminals over citizens.
Judd’s message was simple. Support law enforcement or step aside.
Minnesota Democrats chose chaos. Now they are living with the consequences.
