Additional Threats and Criminal History
The affidavit states that Blaxton made further threats, including setting houses on fire. “I’m a mass murderer, come and get me,” he reportedly declared.
Police arrested Blaxton and charged him with multiple offenses, including making a false bomb threat, filing a false report, and misusing the emergency call system. His bond was set at $35,000. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, according to CBS 12 News.
This is not Blaxton’s first run-in with the law. Records from June 2024 indicate he was previously arrested for larceny, battery, and resisting an officer.
Mental Health Concerns and Risk Protection Order
The PBSO affidavit notes Blaxton’s “extensive history of mental illness.” Citing concerns over his behavior, the sheriff’s office filed a Petition for a Temporary Ex Parte Risk Protection Order against him on March 2, which was approved the following day.
Former Secret Service agent John Russell told CBS 12 News that Blaxton’s threats were likely the result of mental illness. He described the suspect’s phone calls as “probably the idle rant of somebody who’s mentally deranged.”
Trump’s Close Call with Assassination
Blaxton’s threats come months after a near-fatal attack on Trump. In July 2024, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a gunman named Thomas Crooks fired multiple shots at Trump, striking him in the ear. A Secret Service counter-sniper team quickly took out the assailant, but not before one attendee was killed and another was seriously wounded.
Shortly afterward, agents foiled another suspected assassination attempt at Trump’s Palm Beach golf course. Security concerns have heightened since Trump’s return to the White House, leading to increased Secret Service presence around him.
Secret Service Leadership and Trump’s Security
Following his victory, Trump appointed longtime Secret Service agent Sean Curran as the agency’s new director. Curran, a 20-year veteran of the agency, led an elite team of 85 agents dedicated to Trump’s safety throughout his campaign.

Curran played a critical role in the Butler rally attack, famously seen in images shielding Trump moments after the assassination attempt. He was positioned in the innermost security ring and was among the first agents to respond when shots were fired.
With threats against Trump escalating, security experts warn of more dangers ahead. However, Trump remains defiant, as evidenced in his now-iconic fist-pump image from the rally—a bloodied but unshaken leader standing strong amid chaos.
Blaxton’s case underscores the ongoing threats against high-profile political figures. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the full extent of his intentions and whether he had the means to carry out his threats.
