A Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maine announced he is suspending his campaign following the emergence of serious allegations against him, saying his decision was not an admission of guilt but rather a response to what he described as political and organizational pressures.
In an approximately 11-minute video released to supporters, Graham Platner addressed the accusations and defended himself while explaining why he was ending his campaign.
“We believe that for the movement to continue, it can’t be me. And for that reason, we are suspending campaign operations,” Platner said.
