The journals, made public by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., offer a glimpse into Fauci’s private thoughts as the pandemic swept across the nation. Their release comes just days before Fauci is expected to testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after being subpoenaed by the panel, now chaired by Paul, one of Fauci’s most outspoken critics throughout the COVID era.
For many conservatives, the timing could not be more significant.
