Democratic Representative Adam Schiff could be fined a whopping $16 million for his involvement in the Democrats’ initial witch hunt to impeach President Trump, according to legislation presented by Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL). Schiff is charged with acting “dishonorably on many other occasions,” according to the legislation, and he is also accused of lying about his staff’s cooperation with a whistleblower.
As Luna has emphasized, the whistleblower was crucial in starting President Trump’s first impeachment. Luna also made reference to a hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) on September 26, 2019, during which Schiff allegedly recounted a “false concocted rendition” of a phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Republican Representative said that for personal political advantage, Schiff abused his position at the HPSCI to support and defend “abusive intelligence investigations” of American individuals.
Additionally, Schiff is charged with using his authority and access to confidential material to launch a “fraudulently based investigation,” which he then allegedly exploited to advance his political career and raise money.

According to a bill that is being considered, Schiff may face a $16 million fine, with the taxpayers footing half of the bill. After conducting an inquiry, the Committee on Ethics came to the conclusion that Schiff had lied, distorted the truth, and handled sensitive material improperly.
