But the former governor didn’t stop there. He lit into the party’s hypocrisy, quoting playwright Tennessee Williams: “The only thing worse than a liar is a liar that’s also a hypocrite.” He followed it with a scathing rebuke: “If they have any sense of patriotism… they ought to try to … atone for their sins.”
Blagojevich argued that Democrats had every constitutional tool to replace President Biden — including the 25th Amendment — yet chose not to act. Why? According to him, the party decided it was politically safer to prop up a mentally failing Biden than elevate Kamala Harris.
The most devastating shot of the night came when Blagojevich turned his sights on Adam Schiff, the California congressman infamous for pushing the debunked Trump-Russia collusion narrative for years. “Nobody who has any common sense could believe anything they say,” Blagojevich said. “And the king of the Democratic liars is Adam Schiff. If there was a Hall of Fame for liars, like, let’s say, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Adam Schiff would be Elvis.”
Schiff, for his part, was recently seen lamenting the rise of Trump ally Kash Patel on MSNBC. “We stood outside the FBI headquarters to make a last plea against this — this terrible choice to be FBI director, Kash Patel,” he told host Lawrence O’Donnell. “Kash Patel is the guy you go to when everybody else says, ‘No, I won’t do it. It’s too immoral, it’s too unethical, it’s too unlawful.’ He’s the guy.”
That kind of pearl-clutching didn’t move Blagojevich. He sees a party gripped by fear of accountability and obsessed with destroying Trump while ignoring its own decay.
Blagojevich knows the feeling all too well. In 2008, he was removed from office over allegations he tried to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat — claims he has long denied. “I know what they did to me, and I do know they did the same thing to Trump,” he said during a February interview with FOX-32.
He insists his prosecution was politically motivated, spearheaded by then-U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. Now, he sees Trump enduring the same smear machine — only bigger and more ruthless.
“The Democrats have turned politics into a blood sport,” Blagojevich seemed to say without saying. But this time, he’s not just watching from the sidelines.
And if his words on Friday night are any signal, the gloves are off — and the truth, no matter how ugly, is coming out swinging.
