The federal government’s spending habits have always been a contentious topic, but recent revelations have left taxpayers and conservatives in disbelief. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, has joined forces with U.S. Senator Rand Paul and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to uncover outrageous examples of wasteful federal spending. The trio’s collaboration under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), formed by President-elect Donald Trump, is already shaking up Washington.
Senator Rand Paul, a vocal critic of government overspending, has long documented waste through his annual “Festivus Report.” This year’s findings reveal jaw-dropping misuse of taxpayer dollars, including a study costing over $200,000 to investigate the love lives of Japanese quails on cocaine. Paul described the bizarre study, saying, “One of my favorites was when they decided that they would spend a million dollars studying what would happen to Japanese quail–are they more sexually promiscuous when you give them cocaine. This is stuff… you can’t make it up.”

But the absurdities don’t stop there. In a recent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Paul highlighted other outrageous expenditures uncovered by his team and DOGE, such as taxpayer-funded magic shows and performances by ice-skating drag queens. Hannity was visibly stunned, asking, “How much money are we spending on the ice skating drag queens?”
