A growing battle inside Washington’s intelligence apparatus spilled into public view this week after Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte continued a sweeping personnel overhaul that has reportedly resulted in the removal of dozens of intelligence officials.
The shake-up has already sent shockwaves through the federal bureaucracy, particularly among longtime career employees and political operatives who have spent years embedded throughout the intelligence community. Supporters of the move argue that the changes are necessary to restore accountability and eliminate entrenched bureaucratic influence that has operated largely unchecked for years.
According to reports, more than 50 intelligence officials have already been removed under Pulte’s leadership. The personnel actions represent one of the most significant restructurings seen in the intelligence community in recent memory and have quickly become a major point of contention in Washington.
