DNC Got Scammed Out of Nearly $30K

The Democratic National Committee has reportedly been hit by an embarrassing financial scam, after a staffer was allegedly tricked into sending nearly $29,000 to someone impersonating newly elected DNC Chairman Ken Martin.

The incident, first reported by NOTUS, is particularly striking because it apparently did not involve a sophisticated cyberattack or a breach of the committee’s banking system. Instead, the money was sent after a staffer received a fraudulent email from someone pretending to be Martin.

The scam reportedly occurred in February 2025, only days after Martin became chairman of the DNC. Martin was elected chairman on February 1, 2025, succeeding Jaime Harrison at a difficult moment for the Democratic Party following its 2024 election losses.
