Ditch the Supermarket? USDA’s New Shocking Advice

She added, “And people are sort of looking around thinking, ‘Wow, well, maybe I can get a chicken in my backyard,’ and it’s awesome.”

Her remarks weren’t just offhand suggestions. In an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal, Rollins outlined the Trump administration’s commitment to making it easier for families to raise their own chickens while also slashing the regulatory burdens suffocating commercial egg producers.

Predictably, the left wasted no time mocking the idea. Rather than addressing the real issues causing high food prices—Biden’s economic policies and government red tape—Democrats took aim at Rollins’ common-sense proposal.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, never missing an opportunity to sneer at working-class Americans, ridiculed the idea.

“Can’t wait to hear Trump’s ‘Chickens in every backyard’ riff at tomorrow’s speech,” Schumer scoffed on social media.

“This is not a solution. Trump’s cabinet is mocking you. Democrats are fighting to lower prices for you.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper pressed Rollins for a response to the left’s criticism, prompting her to highlight the hypocrisy of the Democrats.

“Well, of course Chuck Schumer would resort to basically poking fun at the average American family, who’s looking to ensure that they can feed their family,” Rollins responded.

Democrats deliberately misrepresented Rollins’ point. She never claimed backyard chickens were the only answer to high egg prices. Instead, her suggestion was part of a broader plan to reduce government-imposed obstacles in food production and allow Americans more control over their food supply.

What Schumer and his fellow Democrats fail to understand—or refuse to acknowledge—is that Americans want solutions. With inflation hammering households and concerns growing over food safety, more families are exploring self-sufficiency.

While not every household has the means to raise chickens, plenty of Americans see it as a practical way to cut costs and secure their food supply. The left’s dismissive attitude only underscores how disconnected they are from real American struggles.

Rollins’ remarks reflect a refreshing change at the Department of Agriculture. Instead of pushing for more government control, she’s encouraging self-reliance and health-conscious choices—values rarely championed by D.C. bureaucrats.

The Trump administration continues to prioritize American families, cutting unnecessary regulations, and empowering people to take charge of their own well-being. The real question is: Why are Democrats so opposed to that?
