A shocking criminal case unfolding in the nation’s capital has sent waves through political circles after a man who claimed to be running for Congress was charged with one of the most disturbing crimes imaginable.
According to newly unsealed federal court documents, Angel Anthony Rios, a 29-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has been charged with distributing child sexual abuse material through social media platforms. The arrest was announced earlier this year but details only recently became public, revealing a deeply disturbing pattern of behavior tied to explicit online communications.
Federal prosecutors allege that Rios used X to initiate conversations that initially appeared political in nature. According to the criminal complaint, Rios sent a direct message to another user under the guise of discussing current events and ideology. That conversation allegedly took a dark and criminal turn when it shifted from politics to explicit sexual content involving children.
Investigators say Rios openly admitted in those messages that he was sexually attracted to minors. Prosecutors further allege that he claimed to have had prior sexual encounters with underage boys and even discussed fantasies involving drugging teenage boys from local high schools. The recipient of the messages reportedly became alarmed as the communications escalated.
