Dorgan made similar remarks toward actor Kevin Sorbo, replying to him with:
“Keep bashing us. but do not wonder why we Go BERSERK.”
Despite these alarming posts, Dorgan’s political alignment appeared inconsistent with left-wing transgender activism. In fact, he openly claimed to be a Trump supporter and even engaged directly with The Gateway Pundit, asserting in 2024 that he was a post-operative transgender individual. He also regularly expressed support for libertarian-leaning Congressman Thomas Massie.

Journalist Aidan Kearney later highlighted additional posts revealing turmoil inside Dorgan’s household. In one message, Dorgan acknowledged the emotional devastation his transition had caused his spouse, writing:
“My wife says she Hates the person who stole her husband. I think it’s extremely important to take special care of those who stand by us. Listen and understand what they are going through for our sake!”
That domestic instability ultimately exploded into deadly violence. According to investigators, Dorgan opened fire on his own family inside the arena, killing his wife at the scene and fatally wounding his daughter, who later died at the hospital. Three other relatives were struck by gunfire and rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.
The couple’s son—the high school hockey player—was not physically injured, though officials say he witnessed the aftermath while still on the ice.
Local station WPRI reported that the family had a documented history of domestic disputes tied to Dorgan’s gender transition. Court records show that in early 2020, Dorgan contacted North Providence police claiming his father-in-law wanted him removed from the home following gender-reassignment surgery.
According to those documents, Dorgan alleged that his father-in-law threatened to “have him murdered by an Asian street gang if he did not move out of the residence” and reportedly told him, “there’s no goddam [sic] way a tranny is going to stay in my house.” Charges were filed but later dismissed by prosecutors.
Around that same period, Dorgan’s then-wife Rhonda filed for divorce. Initially, the filing listed “gender reassignment surgery, narcissistic + personality disorder traits” as grounds before being amended to “irreconcilable differences which have caused the immediate breakdown of the marriage.” The divorce was finalized in 2021.
Dorgan also accused his own mother of assault in 2020, leading to criminal charges that were ultimately dropped.
Local outlet What’s Going On in Rhode Island was among the first to publicly identify Dorgan as the shooter, reporting witness accounts that described him entering the rink carrying two pink-colored firearms—details authorities have not officially confirmed.
Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalve later described the incident as a “targeted family dispute.”
At police headquarters, a woman identifying herself as Dorgan’s daughter addressed reporters, stating bluntly, “He shot my family and he’s dead now.” She added, “He has mental health issues.” Calling him “very sick,” she underscored the deep fractures that preceded the tragedy.
The investigation remains ongoing, but the horrifying events at Lynch Arena have reignited national debate over radical gender ideology, untreated mental illness, and the warning signs repeatedly ignored before violence erupts.
