New FBI Files Released in Butler Trump Shooting Case

More details continue to emerge about the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after newly disclosed FBI records revealed a surprising connection between the gunman and a local law enforcement office.

The documents, obtained by the government watchdog group Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, shed new light on communications involving Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who opened fire during the July 13, 2024 rally. The records contain summaries of interviews conducted with officers and emergency personnel who responded to the attack and its aftermath.

One of the most notable revelations is that Crooks had exchanged emails with an employee of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office before the shooting took place.

The information was never publicly disclosed while former President Joe Biden remained in office, raising new questions about what federal investigators knew and when they knew it.
