An 18-year-old woman with a future as bright as the stars she hoped to one day command has been taken from this world—and critics say the Biden administration’s open border policies are to blame.
Ava Moore, a standout athlete at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School, had her sights set on earning a commission and rising through the military’s ranks. But those dreams were shattered after a deadly accident on Lake Grapevine in Texas, allegedly caused by a Venezuelan national in the country illegally.
Authorities arrested Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez in connection with the incident. Moore, who had been kayaking, was killed after being struck in a jet ski hit-and-run. Witnesses say Gonzalez fled the scene with help from other Venezuelan nationals. One of those individuals, the driver of the getaway vehicle, was also reportedly in the country illegally and was taken into custody after colliding with another car while trying to escape.
Cell phone footage captured the frantic flight from the scene, fueling national outrage and sparking renewed calls for stronger immigration enforcement.
Law enforcement leaders didn’t hold back. Joe Gamaldi, national vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police, condemned the tragedy in blunt terms.
