The Trump administration’s election-integrity crackdown is expanding, with Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin saying federal authorities have already made 151 arrests while investigating more than 1,600 cases involving suspected illegal voting.
Mullin disclosed the latest figures as the Department of Homeland Security continues reviewing voter information supplied by states and comparing those records against federal immigration data.
According to Mullin, DHS currently has 1,620 open cases and is examining a much larger pool of more than 300,000 suspected cases or individuals for potential violations. Those numbers represent matters under review and should not be confused with proven instances of illegal voting.
