Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz spent months publicly saying he wanted the opportunity to testify before Congress about his work involving the late Jeffrey Epstein. Now, however, lawmakers say that when the time finally arrived, the longtime attorney declined to appear.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has now given Dershowitz another opportunity to testify, warning that failure to cooperate could result in compulsory legal action.
The development has drawn fresh attention to Dershowitz’s longstanding legal representation of Epstein and his role in negotiating the controversial 2008 plea agreement that allowed the convicted sex offender to avoid far more serious federal charges.
