According to a report by the New York Post, Rama Duwaji launched a limited-edition T-shirt campaign in 2024, months after Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attack against Israel, claiming that all profits would benefit Dahnoun Mutual Aid, a grassroots organization providing assistance to displaced Palestinians in Gaza. However, sources familiar with the matter told the outlet that the money—estimated to total roughly $2,000—was never transferred to the organization.
The controversy has emerged at an especially sensitive time for Mamdani, whose outspoken positions on Israel and the Middle East have already placed him at the center of heated political debate. Now, questions surrounding his wife’s fundraising effort are adding another layer of unwanted attention to the mayoral campaign.
