Don Gaetz, the former president of the Florida Senate, is running for office again after serving as leader from 2012 to 2014. The 75-year-old declared his intention to compete for the post presently held by state senator Doug Broxson (R-FL), over 20 years after his initial try at the Florida Senate. Gaetz will provide the necessary documentation to support his bid.
Strangely, fellow Republican Frank White, who was previously thought to be the District 1 seat’s likely replacement, has decided to withdraw from the contest. White proclaimed his backing for Gaetz, saying, “Don Gaetz is a living legend for good reason, and his record speaks for itself. He has my full support.”
Gaetz said that he hadn’t thought about running until a radio broadcaster noted the public’s enthusiasm in seeing him back in the Senate as he reflected on the unexpected turn of events. “I told him ‘I don’t have any plans to run for the Senate’ but I told people I would listen. So I’m listening. That spread,” Gaetz elucidated. White approached him a few days later and offered to withdraw if Gaetz decided to run, which made the choice more obvious.

Find out Matt Gaetz’s unexpected viewpoint as he boldly expresses his support on the social networking site X. Matt Gaetz is the son of a well-known Congressman. Matt has been a U.S. Representative for Florida’s 1st congressional district since 2017, thus his open support will undoubtedly get attention.
When Don Gaetz resigned from politics, Congressman Matt Gaetz joined him in the state House, and Broxson was ready to support the seasoned politician. “I think he is considered one of the best Senate presidents,” Broxson remarked. “His members thought he was so inclusive and willing to serve with them and work on projects they thought were important.”
Don modestly said that his present objective, despite his wealth of expertise, is merely to get elected as a freshman senator. “I do know where the bathrooms are and I know where the levers are that need pulling to get things done,” he quipped.
Gaetz, a self-made multimillionaire from Florida, is committed to leading a “spirited campaign” for reform. He is dedicated to reducing Florida’s high prices and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
He fervently favors the eradication of “woke-ism” from Florida’s educational system, championing Governor Ron DeSantis’ cause. He emphasizes the value of parental engagement in selecting books for their children to read and places a priority on the development of civics and discussion in schools.

“I don’t want our state education system to decide what books my child can or can’t read, I want that to be a family decision,” Don said.
In response to speculation that his son Matt Gaetz would run for governor in 2026, Don made clear, “Matt’s not pursuing any run for governor. He’s pushing forward tackling budget and spending problems in Washington and fighting for term limits.”
