Democrats spent nearly every waking moment of Trump’s first term trying to drive him out of office with endless impeachment stunts.
After years of show trials and primetime drama, that political circus collapsed in spectacular fashion.
But instead of accepting defeat, Democrats swapped out impeachment for something far more calculated — and it’s already unraveling.
During Trump’s first term, the Democratic Party had a one-track strategy: impeach him at all costs. They tried it twice, and both times it failed. Trump became the first U.S. president to be impeached twice — and also the first to be acquitted by the Senate both times.
The first impeachment spectacle in 2019 centered on a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Democrats claimed the conversation was some sort of “foreign interference” scheme to help Trump win reelection. The House voted to impeach him in December 2019, but two months later the Senate cleared him on both counts.
