In a moment that instantly went viral, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth turned the heat up on Capitol Hill during his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee—leaving Democrat Senator Jacky Rosen visibly rattled and raging.
The hearing, which was meant to discuss the Pentagon’s budget request, quickly veered off track when Democrats attempted to trap Hegseth in a political crossfire over the recent shake-up in military leadership. But the former Army officer wasn’t having it.
While most of the questioning focused on U.S. military operations in the Middle East and troop movements within American cities, Sen. Rosen (D-NV) launched into a tirade over General Timothy Haugh’s dismissal—an issue she appeared desperate to weaponize politically.
“Were you consulted regarding General Haugh’s dismissal, yes or no?” Rosen barked.
Without flinching, Hegseth gave her a calm but powerful reality check:
“Well, senator, I would not advise believing everything you read in the media, and I’m consulted on every single decision. I’m the decision maker for the department, and we all serve at the pleasure of the President.”
