A bitter property dispute is unfolding in suburban Philadelphia, where Josh Shapiro and his wife, Lori Shapiro, are facing a lawsuit from neighbors who claim the Democratic governor is using his influence to take control of land that doesn’t belong to him.
According to a legal complaint filed by Jeremy and Simone Mock, the governor and first lady have allegedly crossed property lines—both literally and figuratively—in an escalating fight over a strip of land separating the two homes in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The lawsuit accuses the Shapiros of trespassing, attempting to claim ownership of private land, and even using state resources to intimidate the neighboring family.
At the heart of the dispute is roughly 2,900 square feet of property along the border between the Shapiros’ home—valued at approximately $830,500—and the Mocks’ property, which is reportedly worth just under $1 million. The contested area sits between the two houses in the quiet Philadelphia suburb.
Tensions reportedly escalated after the governor began pursuing plans to construct an eight-foot security fence along the boundary. The security upgrade came after a serious incident earlier this year at the governor’s official residence in Harrisburg.
