In the wake of recent storms, a shocking accusation has emerged: FEMA official Marn’i Washington allegedly instructed her staff to withhold assistance from Florida residents displaying pro-Trump flags following Hurricane Helene. This claim came to light after a whistleblower exposed text messages that reportedly detail Washington’s orders to bypass homes with visible support for former President Donald Trump.
According to the whistleblower’s evidence, Washington’s instructions came in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which struck the region hard. She allegedly directed FEMA relief workers to “skip over” homes with pro-Trump signage, effectively leaving these residents to fend for themselves during a time of crisis.

Republican Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL) voiced strong concerns about the allegations in an interview with FOX News, suggesting that the issue could be more widespread than initially suspected. “If it was happening in Lake Placid, it’s happening all across the great state of Florida. It’s probably happening in western North Carolina, probably happening all of the states that were hit by Hurricane Helene,” said Steube. He emphasized that these claims warrant an immediate investigation, calling for an inquiry into FEMA’s relief practices across all affected areas.
