A devastating chain-reaction crash brought traffic to a standstill in Southern California over the weekend after a semi-truck lost control on the 210 Freeway in Irwindale, leaving one person dead and dozens of others injured.
Authorities said the tragic collision unfolded Saturday morning when the tractor-trailer suddenly veered out of its lane before crossing into opposing traffic. The violent impact sent vehicles crashing into one another and forced officials to shut down portions of the freeway in both directions as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
Investigators confirmed that a 58-year-old woman lost her life in the crash. In total, 32 people suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious. Ten victims required hospitalization, including six children who were transported for medical treatment.
