Elon Musk has shut down online speculation surrounding the tragic Tesla Cybertruck explosion at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day. Some claimed the driver had been shot before the incident, leaving the Cybertruck to autonomously navigate to the scene. Musk called these theories baseless, citing Tesla’s safety systems.

The incident claimed the life of Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Army veteran from Colorado, and injured seven bystanders. The explosion drew attention not only for its tragic outcome but also for the resilience of Tesla’s Cybertruck, which limited damage to the hotel. Musk quipped online, “The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.”
