The tragic death of Corey Comperatore, a devoted father, husband, and retired firefighter, has left a void in his family’s life and sparked serious questions about the security lapses at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where former President Donald Trump was speaking on July 13. Comperatore, who was fatally shot while protecting his family, is being remembered as a hero by those who knew and loved him.
Corey Comperatore, 51, was among the crowd of Trump supporters when gunfire broke out. As the shots rang out, Comperatore instinctively acted to shield his family, particularly his daughter Allyson, from harm. Tragically, he was struck in the head by one of eight bullets fired by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who had positioned himself on a rooftop approximately 150 yards away from the former president’s podium.
