A revealing comment from Lindsay Clancy juror Paula Devlin is raising fresh questions about what may have influenced the jury during the closely watched Massachusetts murder case.
Clancy admitted to killing her three young children in January 2023. Her defense, however, maintained that she should not be held criminally responsible because of severe mental illness and argued that she was legally insane at the time of the killings.
The case ultimately ended without a verdict after jurors became deadlocked over the appropriate outcome.
The jury had several possible paths before it. Jurors could have found Clancy guilty of first-degree murder, guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of manslaughter, not guilty, or not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.
