But there’s a dirty secret hiding behind the glossy panels and promises of zero emissions: over 80% of the world’s solar panels are manufactured in China, a country whose communist regime doesn’t exactly have a stellar record when it comes to transparency or good-faith cooperation.
Worse yet, the Chinese government heavily subsidizes its solar industry, wiping out international competitors and essentially forcing Western nations into dependency. That’s no accident. It’s a strategy.
Trojan Horse Tech: What Engineers Discovered
American power companies recently began conducting deep security checks on Chinese-built solar inverters before installation—and what they found was shocking.
Buried deep in the devices were covert communication modules, designed to access the inverters remotely. These units are vital components that connect renewable sources like solar panels and wind turbines to the electrical grid.
According to Reuters, American engineers also discovered hidden cellular radios in batteries, also made in China. These embedded devices could be exploited to disable, destroy, or manipulate grid-connected systems without a trace.
“That effectively means there is a built-in way to physically destroy the grid,” a source told Reuters.
Former NSA Chief Warns: China Can Pull the Plug
Former National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers issued a sobering warning about the consequences of these findings.
“We know that China believes there is value in placing at least some elements of our core infrastructure at risk of destruction or disruption,” Rogers told Reuters. “I think that the Chinese are, in part, hoping that the widespread use of inverters limits the options that the West has to deal with the security issue.”
If just a fraction of these compromised devices were activated simultaneously, it could trigger widespread blackouts—lasting days or even weeks—crippling everything from hospitals and airports to banking systems and emergency services.
China Denies, But Lawmakers Raise Red Flags
Of course, Beijing denies any wrongdoing. But lawmakers in the U.S. aren’t buying it. Representative August Pfluger (R-TX) didn’t mince words:
“The threat we face from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is real and growing. Whether it’s telecom hacks or remotely accessing solar and battery inverters, the CCP stops at nothing to target our sensitive infrastructure and components,” Pfluger warned.
“It is about time we ramp up our efforts to show China that compromising us will no longer be acceptable.”
Democrats’ Dangerous Gamble
Despite the mounting security risks, Democrats continue championing policies that deepen America’s reliance on foreign-made renewable technology. They’ve spent years dismantling domestic energy independence only to hand the reins of our electric grid to a communist adversary.
With each solar panel imported from China, the U.S. gets closer to surrendering control over its most vital systems. The left sells solar as clean, cheap, and eco-friendly—but now we know there’s a dark cost: national vulnerability.
It’s time to ask the uncomfortable question: Are we trading energy freedom for a green fantasy built in Beijing?
