In yet another case that highlights the catastrophic failure of America’s immigration and criminal justice systems, a 15-year-old illegal alien from Colombia who killed a young woman in a reckless high-speed crash has avoided jail time — thanks to a soft-on-crime plea deal pushed by a progressive district attorney in Colorado.
The fatal crash happened in July 2024, when 24-year-old Kaitlyn Weaver was struck at an intersection by a teenager driving 90 miles per hour while racing other vehicles. Weaver, who was talking to her boyfriend on the phone, was killed instantly, according to her grieving father, John Weaver. “It was an instantaneous death,” he said.
The teen, whose name remains concealed due to Colorado’s laws protecting juvenile offenders, was initially charged with vehicular homicide. But rather than pursue full justice for the victim, Arapahoe County District Attorney Amy Padden — a Democrat backed by Governor Jared Polis and far-left Senator Bernie Sanders — offered the suspect a stunningly lenient plea deal.
