Immigration enforcement has suddenly become a major media obsession now that President Donald Trump is once again putting federal immigration law at the center of his administration.
For years, however, Immigration and Customs Enforcement received considerably less scrutiny when the Biden administration was overseeing immigration enforcement. Now, with ICE carrying out a far more aggressive enforcement strategy under Trump, the agency has become a favorite target for critics on the left and in the mainstream media.
That dynamic was on full display during a recent interview involving White House border czar Tom Homan and CBS News correspondent Camilo Montoya-Galvez.
Montoya-Galvez confronted Homan over deaths occurring in ICE custody during the Trump administration. The reporter cited government data and pressed Homan over what he characterized as a potentially record-setting year.
