Violence erupted once again on the streets of Minneapolis over the weekend, leaving a federal law enforcement officer permanently injured and raising new alarms about escalating anti-police extremism.
During a tense immigration enforcement operation in south Minneapolis, a Homeland Security Investigations agent suffered a horrific injury when a rioter bit off his finger amid a surge of far-left unrest. The brutal assault unfolded as hundreds of protesters flooded the area following a deadly confrontation between federal agents and an anti-ICE activist.
The chaos began Saturday afternoon when U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents attempted to arrest an illegal alien wanted in connection with a violent assault. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 37-year-old Alex Pretti intervened during the operation and allegedly pulled a firearm on the agents.
Footage from the scene shows a heated struggle unfolding within seconds. A single gunshot was heard, followed by agents opening fire. Emergency responders rushed in and attempted life-saving measures, but Pretti was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
