The wife of California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, made a startling statement this week about previously unreported details surrounding her sister’s death in Hawaii many years ago.
The traumatizing incident of accidentally running her sister over with a golf cart while on a family vacation is disclosed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. She has struggled for years with the “survivor’s guilt” that has followed her since the occurrence.

According to the report, the woman being referred to admitted that she had participated in cart racing with her sister Stacia and a group of children a few days before she turned seven during her time in Hawaii in 1981.
“The second-eldest of five daughters, Siebel Newsom, 48, had been on a family vacation when the cart reversed and killed her sibling who she hadn’t seen hiding behind her buggy,” the report continued.
She shared a touching tale in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. She spoke while tightly clutching herself, describing the profound effect of her sister’s passing. Her devastating loss inspired her to strive for greatness in all facets of her life in order to make up for the hole left by the disaster.
“I felt the pressure to be perfect, to make my parents forget, by being two daughters instead of one,” she said.
“I’m sure there was survivor’s guilt, and I’m sure, in my subconscious, it’s like I have to make up for that loss. And I have to do something to improve other people’s lives or have an impact, double my own, which is a little crazy. I don’t use the word ‘crazy.’ But you know, it’s aspirational,” Siebel Newsom told the Times. “I realized that I’m really hard on myself. I realized that you can’t blame a 6- [or] 7-year-old. You can’t ask them to understand things.”
The Daily Mail added:
In addition to playing for the college soccer team and the US Soccer young team for women under 23, Siebel Newsom played at Stanford, where she earned her MBA. She also talked openly about the dismissal of her legal claim against infamous producer Harvey Weinstein in 2022.
The disgraced movie mogul may have to go through a new trial as a result of the jury’s inability to reach a decision.
Her statement claims that during a meeting in 2005, the scandalized producer engaged in sexual assault with her while allegedly saying, “Don’t worry, this will improve your mood.”
Siebel Newsom bravely admitted during her testimony that Weinstein had sexually attacked her while she was 31 years old and still employed as an actor and producer in the entertainment business. She described the incident in detail, describing how she had first planned to meet Weinstein in a private suite at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, pretending to talk about business.
During the trial, Siebel Newsom bravely relived a terrifying situation in which she anticipated discussing her career with other people. Harvey Weinstein, who had merely come out in a robe and nothing else, met her there, and she later had to put up with his groping and self-pleasure. She faked an orgasm to put an end to the situation. Her statement clarifies the troubling actions of individuals in positions of authority and the imperative need to hold them responsible.
“It was a horrific experience. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I felt I could hopefully be helpful and shine a light on, you know, what’s wrong in our society when you have serial perpetrators getting away with rape, sexual assault, and harassment for decades,” she said.
“And so this was just, I felt like, one way I could contribute because I [had] stayed relatively silent except for with friends and peers,” she noted.
She started her acting career in the late 2000s. She managed to act alongside the great Damian Lewis in several episodes of the well-known television series “Life” via pure willpower.
Her charming portrayal of the party girl is one to remember. Over the course of nearly a decade, she took on a variety of lesser roles until making a lasting impact as the lively Juanita Carson in an episode of “Mad Men.”
