Republican voters across the country are demanding action on election integrity. Instead, they are watching another familiar Washington power struggle unfold.
This time, it centers on the SAVE Act and a stunning accusation from Rep. Tim Burchett.
According to Burchett, Senate Republican leadership is standing in the way of a bill that would require proof of citizenship and voter ID protections before ballots are cast. And at the center of the controversy is longtime Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Burchett did not mince words.
“Mitch McConnell’s handlers are blocking the SAVE Act from being brought to a vote on the Senate Floor.”
That charge has ignited outrage among grassroots conservatives who see the SAVE Act as a straightforward election security measure. Supporters argue the legislation simply ensures that only American citizens vote in federal elections and that voters provide proper identification before casting a ballot.
