The possible running mates of the Republican contenders vying for the 2024 nomination, according to the former president, are not impressing him.
“They’ll do anything: secretary of something, they even say VP. Has anyone seen a VP in that group? I don’t think so,” Trump recently stated at a Michigan event.

Trump “was very clear in his remarks,” according to campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung, who sent an email to The Washington Post. However, Cheung did not specifically answer whether the former president is keeping all seven contenders out of the discussion.
Introducing Kristi Noem, the Republican governor of South Dakota, who is a possible choice for vice president on someone’s “VP list”.
Regarding Noem, Trump stated in a recent interview: “I think she’s fantastic. She’s been a great governor. She gave me a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement. It’s been a very good state for me, and certainly, she would be one of the people I would consider for something else, maybe. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.”
Trump hinted that while he was interested in finding “the right person,” he also enjoyed “the concept” of choosing a female running mate.
“You always do a little bit, but I don’t think it’s time,” Trump said. “I want to win, and, you know, it’s very interesting about running mates, when you get down to a vice president, they said, ‘Nobody has ever made that kind of a difference.’ It’s still about the person that’s going to be president.”

According to a recent Roll Call article, these five Republicans are probably on Trump’s “VP list,” with Noem’s name being toward the top:
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem
Arizona Republican Kari Lake
South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley
New York Rep. Elise Stefanik
Despite being the subject of many indictments in different jurisdictions, Trump’s popularity has surged. According to a recent study, he is even outperforming Biden in crucial swing states.
“The states that had the narrowest margin of victory for either candidate last cycle were Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, with Biden winning all but North Carolina. Across those key swing states, Trump is ahead of Biden 41% to 35%, and 24% of voters remain undecided, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll,” According to The Daily Caller.
“Among independent voters, the former president also held a slight advantage over Biden, according to the poll. Trump received 32% support among independents compared to Biden’s 30%, and 38% was undecided. Uncertain voters favored Biden over Trump at 49% to 38%,” Citing the poll, the DC made a note.
A study found that if Biden and Trump faced battle in the 2024 election, their respective percentages would be deadlocked at 39%. Voters were swayed by concerns about crime, the economy, and the president’s advanced age.
According to Echelon Insights polling data from July, Trump was leading his prospective Democratic rival in a number of significant swing states.
The survey “found that 48% of respondents in swing states would probably or vote for Trump, compared to just 41% for Biden. Though Biden is narrowly favored overall by likely voters, with 43% favoring him compared to 42% for Trump, the Republican front-runner could win 270 Electoral College votes by seizing the swing states,” According to the Washington Examiner.
According to Mediaite, Trump and Biden have been constantly ahead of each other in recent months. In fact, Trump topped Biden by a substantial 7 points in an ABC/Washington Post survey conducted in May.
