McConnell is resigning in the midst of many freezing incidents.
Following a tumble in March of last year, McConnell shattered his bone and sustained a concussion, as TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported. Before going back to the Senate in mid-April, he was admitted to the hospital and spent some time in rehab.
In September, McConnell entered a catatonic condition during a news appearance in Covington, Kentucky.
For an instant, Mitch McConnell could not speak. He was saved by an assistant, who quickly called off the press conference.

During a Senate news conference, McConnell was silent and just gazed.
McConnell’s little seizures are related to dehydration, according to the Capitol physician.
“I have consulted with Leader McConnell and conferred with his neurology team. After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned. Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration,” Dr. Brian Monahan of Capitol Medicine stated in a September statement.
The “dehydration” theory was not one that Senator Rand Paul accepted.
“I think it’s an inadequate explanation to say this is dehydration… Well, I practiced medicine for 25 years and it doesn’t look like dehydration to me, it looks like a focal neurologic event,’” Rand Paul, a doctor told reporters the previous year.
