Breaking: Erin Now a MONSTER Storm!

Although Hurricane Erin isn’t expected to slam directly into the U.S. mainland, officials are warning that the powerful storm will still bring dangerous conditions stretching from the Bahamas to Atlantic Canada.

On Monday, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) sounded the alarm, cautioning that the storm will generate “life-threatening surf and rip currents along the beaches of the Bahamas, much of the east coast of the U.S., Bermuda, and Atlantic Canada during the next several days.”

The Outer Banks of North Carolina are bracing for severe weather as early as Wednesday. The NHC warned of tropical storm conditions, flooding, and surging waters that could devastate vulnerable coastal communities.

“Many of you may assume that with the offshore track of Hurricane Erin over the next several days that there will be little to no impacts to the East Coast of the United States,” said National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Jamie Rhome. “Nothing could be further from the truth for portions of the Mid-Atlantic, especially the Outer Banks of North Carolina.”
