Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino is expected to leave Minnesota within days, marking a sudden shift in the federal immigration enforcement posture following days of unrest, political pressure, and intense national scrutiny.
Multiple outlets including Fox News, CNN, the Associated Press, and CBS News confirmed that Bovino and a contingent of federal immigration agents are preparing to depart the Minneapolis area by Tuesday. The development comes as questions mount about who is now directing operations on the ground and why Bovino’s social media presence has abruptly gone dark.
According to CBS News, Bovino is expected to return to California’s El Centro sector, where he previously served as chief agent before being deployed by the Trump administration to assist in high profile enforcement operations in major cities.
“Outspoken Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino and some of his green-uniformed agents are expected to soon leave the Minneapolis area, three sources familiar with the move tell CBS News,” the outlet reported.
