In yet another aggressive push against the Second Amendment, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has signed a trio of sweeping gun control laws—one of which hands private financial companies the authority to track every ammo purchase made with a credit or debit card.
These new laws come as part of Hochul’s crusade to, in her words, “strengthen New York’s gun violence prevention efforts and keep New Yorkers safe.” But critics argue the real goal is state surveillance under the guise of safety—spying on legal gun owners and creating backdoor gun registries through corporate compliance.

“We’re taking action to drive down gun violence in the State of New York — protecting our communities and making our streets safer,” Hochul declared in a public statement. “Public safety is my number one priority, and by giving law enforcement additional tools to stop gun violence in its tracks, we’re building on our promise to put the safety of New Yorkers first.”
