HBO’s Bill Maher is sounding the alarm — and this time, the warning isn’t coming from a Republican strategist or conservative commentator. It’s coming straight from one of the left’s own, and it’s not flattering. In a candid and biting segment on his show Real Time, Maher tore into Democrats for embracing what he calls purity politics and self-righteousness, arguing that their elitism and intolerance are setting them up for a major loss in the next election.
While talking to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Maher didn’t hold back on how he believes liberals have drifted too far from reality. He accused the left of becoming “bullies” and disconnected from ordinary Americans — especially those who don’t live in elite coastal enclaves.

“There’s not just one caucus in the Republican Party. There’s like three or four,” Maher observed, noting that the GOP, for all its internal divisions, still represents a wider ideological spectrum than the Democratic Party.
