Thompson dropped this jaw-dropping information during an appearance on FOX News Sunday with Shannon Bream. Bream directly quoted a longtime Biden aide from the book who reportedly said:
“He just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years. He’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while. His aides could pick up the slack.”
Let that sink in.
These weren’t cabinet officials. These weren’t Senate-confirmed leaders. These were Biden’s inner circle — unelected White House operatives who, according to Thompson, genuinely believed they were justified in taking over the reins of power. Thompson elaborated:
“Well, this person went on to say that when you’re voting for a president, you’re voting for the aides around him. But these aides were not even Senate-confirmed aides. These are White House aides. These were unelected people. And one of the things that really I think comes out in our reporting here is that if you believe — and I think a lot of these people do sincerely believe that Donald Trump was and is an existential threat to democracy — you can rationalize anything, including sometimes doing undemocratic things, which I think is what this person is talking about.”

In other words, they believed their cause — stopping Trump — was so noble that it justified bending the rules of democracy. That alone should terrify every American citizen, regardless of political affiliation.
This wasn’t leadership. It was a covert power grab by a shadowy inner circle determined to run the United States from behind a curtain while using Biden as a figurehead. The American people were never supposed to know what was happening — they were expected to just accept the illusion of a presidency while the real decisions were made out of view.
This kind of scheme is exactly why our Founding Fathers warned against unchecked executive power. The fact that this was being openly discussed, and even rationalized, by top aides should send alarm bells ringing across Capitol Hill.
If Joe Biden had stumbled his way into a second term, Americans might have ended up with a government not led by a president, but by a committee of unelected bureaucrats calling the shots without oversight or legitimacy. That’s not democracy — that’s a coup in slow motion.
Congress must investigate this immediately. The public deserves answers. Who were these aides? What authority did they believe they had? And how far did this plan go?
