President Joe Biden’s push for a green economy has left a mess that schools across the country are now scrambling to clean up.
As part of his administration’s effort to electrify the nation’s transportation system, Biden poured tens of billions of taxpayer dollars into electric vehicle initiatives, including a plan to replace diesel-powered school buses with electric alternatives. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) spearheaded the $5 billion Clean School Bus program, which aimed to help school districts transition to electric buses.

One of the primary beneficiaries of this initiative was Canadian electric bus manufacturer Lion Electric. Between October 2022 and May 2024, the company received a staggering $159 million in taxpayer funds to produce 435 electric school buses for American school districts.
