President Joe Biden is again under fire for his recent comment, which seemed to brand supporters of former President Donald Trump as “garbage.” While the White House quickly issued a “clarifying” statement, the damage was done. Many Trump supporters and Biden critics feel the attempted backtrack did little more than underscore the animosity of Biden’s administration toward the opposing side.
In his controversial statement, Biden referenced Trump supporters in less-than-flattering terms, igniting backlash across social media. Though the president attempted to address the fallout by clarifying that he was referring to the “hateful rhetoric” at a recent Trump rally in New York, his comments have left lingering doubts. The president, in a since-viral clip, reportedly said, “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.” This remark was met with strong resistance from Trump allies and members of the public alike.

White House staff swiftly moved to control the narrative, asserting that Biden’s comment specifically targeted a single rally attendee, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. Hinchcliffe, known for his raw humor, had made a provocative joke about Puerto Rico during the event at Madison Square Garden. Following this, the White House claimed Biden’s language was meant to call out Hinchcliffe, not the broader Trump supporter base. In an attempt at damage control, they even edited a transcript to make it appear Biden said “supporter’s,” using the possessive form to imply he was singling out one individual.
