According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security intends to provide picture ID cards to a significant number of illegal aliens prior to their release into the country.
The Secure Docket Program was introduced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last year as part of the Biden Administration’s attempts to “modernize various forms of documentation provided to provisionally released noncitizens through a consistent, verifiable, secure card.” Since President Biden took office in 2021, border crossers have been paroled by immigration officials, who give them a court date before allowing them into the country.
The ID cards will have a picture, biographic details, and what ICE refers to as “cutting-edge security features to the mutual benefit of the government and noncitizens.”
“Specifics of the program are still under development, but a primary goal of the SDC is to improve current, inconsistent paper forms that often degrade rapidly in real world use,” Last year, an ICE official stated. “Pending the outcome of the pilot, ICE will consider further expansion.”
Fox News has discovered stolen pictures of illegal immigrant ID cards. Similar to a driver’s license, these cards contain personal information and QR codes that lead to vital papers and court records.
The Biden Administration is recommending a system of cards to help immigration officers monitor migrants in an effort to increase efficiency. While some claim that this strategy might promote illegal immigration, it’s important to remember that a large proportion of freed migrants miss their court appearances.
“ICE is a federal law enforcement agency, not the DMV. When will Congress wake up and put an end to these open-borders, anti-enforcement programs that defy the agency’s mission and enable the crisis?” The National Immigration Center for Enforcement’s (NICE) president, RJ Hauman, told Fox News. “ICE should be arresting, detaining, and removing those who come here illegally, not doling out social services,” he said.
The ID cards will only be utilized by DHS employees, according to ICE. “Moving to a secure card will save the agency millions, free up resources, and ensure information is quickly accessible to DHS officials while reducing the agency’s FOIA backlog,” an agency representative stated. “For provisionally released noncitizens, the digital modernization will provide ongoing access to important immigration documents through the secure card and connected portal.”
