Kaya Walker, president of the NYU College Republicans, made comments about Barron Trump that many saw as feeding into leftist media narratives.

Even more damaging was Walker’s decision to quote an NYU professor who said, “He doesn’t really belong here.”

Will Donahue, president of the national organization, issued a statement making it clear that Walker had violated protocol by engaging with Vanity Fair instead of redirecting inquiries to the proper channels.
“During the conversation, she was presented with a narrative about Barron Trump that was clearly framed in a partisan manner,” the statement read.
The organization also took issue with the tone of Walker’s comments, saying she had inadvertently contributed to a “misleading and negative portrayal” of Barron Trump.
Following the uproar, the NYU College Republicans released their own statement announcing that Walker had submitted her resignation.
“We have been made aware of a statement made by the NYU chapter President that does not align with the values and principles upheld by our organization. Though Vanity Fair and The Independent unfairly framed what was said, upon review, we still found it to be inappropriate. The NYU chapter President submitted her resignation last night,” the statement read.
Despite the controversy, Donahue extended an olive branch to Barron, inviting him to join the College Republicans if he wished to step into the political arena.
“While we have not yet had direct communication with him, we would be honored to provide him with a platform to begin his political career should he choose to do so,” Donahue said.
He also emphasized that the organization would fully respect Barron’s privacy if he preferred to stay out of the spotlight.
“Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,” Donahue added.
He concluded with a powerful message about leadership:
“Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility—qualities that Barron has already demonstrated. We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party.”
As Barron Trump steps further into the public eye, he now faces the same relentless media scrutiny that his father and older siblings have endured for years.
