Baltimore Blaze Sparks Panic: “Not Again!”

Baltimore’s busy harbor faced another scare this week when a cargo vessel suddenly caught fire in the Patapsco River. But unlike the chaos of the Key Bridge disaster, this time emergency crews were ready, and they wasted no time in containing the threat.

Witnesses reported heavy smoke billowing from the ship, creating alarm throughout the area. The incident immediately stirred memories of the catastrophic Key Bridge collapse that shocked the nation last year.

The fire erupted aboard the W SAPPHIRE, a bulk carrier flying the Liberian flag. The ship had only just left Baltimore on Monday evening, bound for Port Louis, Mauritius, when flames broke out beneath deck.

Records confirm the vessel’s identifying details, including call sign D5AF7 and IMO number 9605645. As thick smoke poured out, speculation began spreading online about whether the ship had suffered an explosion.
