Ballots Burned: LA Race Turns Chaotic Overnight!

Los Angeles County election officials are investigating what they describe as possible attempts to interfere with voting operations ahead of the June 2 primary, after incidents involving damaged ballots and vandalism surfaced in multiple locations, including Long Beach.

According to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office, a small number of vote-by-mail ballots were discovered burned during a routine pickup from an official ballot drop box located at the Department of Public Social Services–Civic Center in Los Angeles. Officials say the damage appears to have occurred in a narrow window between scheduled collections.

“Staff identified a limited number of vote-by-mail ballots that appeared to have sustained fire-related damage,” the county registrar-recorder said.

Authorities believe the incident happened sometime after the final ballot retrieval on Saturday and before the next scheduled pickup on Sunday morning. While the number of affected ballots is reported to be small, the discovery immediately triggered an internal review and coordination with law enforcement.
