Community leaders in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Queens district are once again pleading for federal help as violent foreign gangs tighten their grip on Roosevelt Avenue. The neighborhood, long branded a “red-light district,” has become a haven for prostitution, human trafficking, and drugs — all happening in plain sight.
Rallies Against Rampant Vice
In recent weeks, local residents have organized rallies outside suspected brothels, demanding law enforcement finally crack down. Witnesses say women openly solicit men on the sidewalks before customers rush into seedy storefronts. One illicit operation hides next to a corner bodega, while another disguises itself as a massage parlor.
During a Sunday protest, frustrated neighbors plastered “Shut it down” posters across a battered doorway, calling on federal agents to clear out the dens of exploitation once and for all.
