New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is facing serious questions after a former staffer revealed she hired an illegal immigrant, effectively sidestepping federal law. This revelation underscores a growing pattern within the Democratic Party—placing foreign nationals above American citizens.
According to a report from Migrant Insider, Diego de la Vega, a native of Quito, Ecuador, illegally overstayed his U.S. visa after arriving as a child in 2001. Though he eventually enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, his immigration status still barred him from certain employment—especially in government positions.

De la Vega became politically active after the 2010 failure of the Dream Act, a bill that sought to grant temporary residency and work authorization to illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as minors. He later worked for the New York State Assembly and the activist group Make the Road NY, where he helped secure billions of taxpayer dollars to fund relief checks for illegal immigrants.
