Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is staring down a political crossroads that could determine not only the next chapter of her career, but potentially whether there is another chapter at all.
The New York Democrat and prominent democratic socialist is considering several possible paths for 2028. She could seek the presidency, challenge Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for his Senate seat, or remain in the House and pursue another term.
But Ocasio-Cortez has made one thing unusually clear: If she takes the biggest gamble of her political career and loses, she may walk away from elected office altogether.
