In February, AOC traveled to the Munich Security Conference, aiming to demonstrate her readiness for global leadership. Instead, she left a trail of misstatements and awkward pauses that will likely haunt her political career.
When asked whether the U.S. should defend Taiwan if China invades, she paused for nearly 20 seconds—the longest hesitation on the most consequential foreign policy question facing America today. Her response went nowhere, as she stated she wanted to “make sure we never get to that point” and emphasized “moving in all of our economic research and global positions.”
