As darkness fell Friday night, the scene outside Delaney Hall once again descended into chaos. Videos circulating online captured intense standoffs between large crowds and state troopers as officers deployed crowd-control measures in an effort to disperse protesters and reestablish control.
Footage from the area appeared to show tear gas canisters being deployed along with flash bangs as authorities attempted to push crowds away from restricted zones. Witnesses reported heightened tensions throughout the evening as demonstrators repeatedly challenged police barricades and ignored efforts to keep assembly areas separated from operational zones.
By late evening, the atmosphere had become increasingly volatile.
Reports from the scene indicated that confrontations broke out as officers attempted to enforce security boundaries established earlier in the day. Demonstrators continued using many of the same tactics that have characterized the unrest over the past week.
Groups of protesters linked arms together to form human chains. Others reportedly used umbrellas, trash containers, and makeshift barriers to obstruct access routes leading toward the facility. Some activists also attempted to block entrances and impede vehicle movement around the complex.
Those actions persisted despite the transition from federal to state-led security operations.

Federal officials have also raised alarms about threats directed at ICE personnel and their families. Investigators are reportedly examining numerous incidents involving threatening statements aimed at officers, including remarks targeting spouses and children.
Authorities have characterized those threats as serious matters that could result in additional criminal investigations.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies remain on high alert as organizers prepare for additional demonstrations throughout the weekend. Officers from both state and local agencies continue to maintain a significant presence around the facility as officials monitor the evolving situation.
As of Saturday evening, questions remain about whether the governor’s security overhaul has achieved its intended goal. While state police assumed a larger role in managing the crowds, the scenes that unfolded overnight suggest that tensions surrounding Delaney Hall remain far from resolved.
